I am working on designing PC-PCFs in THz frequencies in comsol 5.0 and I want to calculate the EML at different core porosity and core sizes.

Can anyone please tell me how to evaluate the effective material loss using comsol?

Also i want to know the effective modal area, I understand that I can use the measure function by right clicking on geometry to know the size of a specific region of the fiber. But what I want to evaluate is the area covered by the fundamental mode. Can anyone tell me how to do just that?
