I am simulating an tensile test with different speciemen geometries in Abaqus.
For the Damage evolution i need the Displacement at failiure.
In the Abaqus manual the displacement is defined as the difference between the strain at maximum stress and the strain as the speciemen breaks, multiplied with the charakteristic Length.
If i simulate with my calculated value, which is 0.21 by the way, the simulation stops with an error ( too many attemps on an Increment).
As I increase the displacement value this error does not appear.
Does anyone know how to solve this Problem or if my calculation for the displacement at Failure is right?
This normally happens when you are simulating damage in FE. You need to introduce the viscous regularization (viscosity) to solve this problem. By doing this, you introduce some kind of damping in your system.

Thank you, i found out what my problem is. My applied load exceeds the stress strain values in the plastic material section.
I got one answer left. Here is my stress strain curve i simulated so far and the results of a real tensile test. dou you know how to simulate the behaviour after the "point of maximal stress"?
I tried it with prony series , but i don 't have results from a relaxation test.
