Is there a way to calculate a sound velocity mixture of a solid-liquid suspension?
I am modelling a fluid domain where the continuous phase is water while the dispersed phase is polystyrene solid particles. I am making this fluid domain as a euler-euler model at laminar flow.

Yes, you can.That said, I would expect trapped/dissolved gas to affect the wave speed as well.

The selection of the correct mixing rule for sound velocity in ideal liquid mixtures determines the interpretation of the sound velocity in real mixtures. This is especially important for the determination of apparent properties of solutes, such as their apparent compressibility. An acoustic method using the ultrasound time delay measurement technique has been developed to determine thermo physical parameters of fluid mixtures. The propagation velocity of ultrasonic waves in n-hexane was measured by a pulse transmission-reflection instrument operating at 3 MHz This frequency constitutes an acceptable compromise between lower frequencies, which give clearer signals at a reduced accuracy, and higher frequencies, which provide a better accuracy of measurements, but with a greater attenuation of the waves. The thermo physical properties of mixture, including the dependence of sound velocity on temperature, at the frequencies of a few MHz, the ultrasound speed u and the speed of sound C0 extrapolated to zero frequency can be matched in the case of hydrocarbons in the liquid state. It follows from the assumption that the usual thermodynamic relations which relate the speed of sound to thermodynamic properties of the fluid can also be used for the ultrasound speed.
