The hydrogels I have prepared are most like thin membranous sheets. I want to carry out full-thickness wound animal (male rat) studies (6 mm diameter). Should I cut the hydrogels also 6 mm or larger than that? Should it be applied on top or inside wound?

In my research, I use bacterial cellulose as a dressing for wounds.
For wounds in animal experiments, slightly larger wound dressings are usually given. This has several benefits. The first is that it can completely cover the wound. The other benefit is to avoid microbial infection caused by the edges of the dressing that are smaller than the wound.

Chou-Yi Hsu Thank you for your kind suggestion. The hydrogels I prepared are more like thin film sheets. So it must be applied on top of the wound by covering it but not like scaffolds or injectable hydrogels inside the wound?
Noor Ul Ain, if the hydrogel you prepared is the membrane, you should apply it by covering the whole wound for further evaluation.
