My research had a multiple answer dependent variables. How can I use spss to find the correlation of the dependent variable and independent variables? Should I use define multiple response set first?
It is simple to conduct correlation analysis in SPSS by going to analyze & click on correlation analysis. Select all the study variables (dependent & independent variables). Since correlation analysis is an interdependent statistical technique, there is no need to identify dependent or independent variables. As you mentioned about multiple answers to dependent variable, then I think there will not be any problem in calculating correlation coefficient.
If all your separate items measure the same underlying concept in the same way (e.g., a series of 5-point Likert-scored items), then you may be able to sum them into a single scale. You can assess this using Cronbach's alpha coefficient.
