How many entries and how many blocks for once complete replication.

As Muhammad has rightly suggested, GenStat will enable you to analyze data from an alpha-lattice design using the ReML procedure. An alternative is to use ASReml. Unfortunately both require a license. GenStat (discovery edition) used to be freely available to Indian scientists, but not any more - India is no longer considered as a developing country! Hope you get someone local to help you - may be talk to someone in your Stats department.

What are the (a) # entries, (b) #replications, and (c) #blocks within each replication. Is it a genetic study? If yes, what are the objectives? Is estimation of heritability an objective? This will affect how you need to correctly use ReML. Let me know. I will then be in a better position to help you.

A simple thing i want to know when we called a incomplete block design alpha lattice design? Are data data arrangement system of Alpha lattice and RCBD same? I have SAS software and i want to analyse my data using SAS. If possible pls give the ANOVA table formate of Alpha lattice design. I will try to use codes given by Sheraz.

 I have a same problem Suresh Handi . I want analyse data from alpha lattice design (2 rep, 14 blocks and 11 plot in each block) with R software, i used PBIB.test function but always it shows a message error taht tel objest "block" not found.

Did you try to analyse using R agrecolae package, design.alpha.

Yes, you can use R language to anlsyse data collected from an alpha latice design using the package agricolae (PBIIB function).

You can easily do it with R (design and analysis)

agrecolae package, design.alpha. in R is good choice.

agricolae or lmerTest (lme4) packages in R can help.

Moreover, kindly tell me if I can use environment variable in the class and model.

Finally, how to analyze multiple dependant variables through this method? (btw i can only analyze one variable by replacing y in the model).

but using R programme is much better

I suggest you to check the R package statgenSTA. The function fitTD contains models for several design. Thee option design = res.ibd is useful for alpha designs.

I suggest you to check the R package "agrecolae". using R is a good choice.

Hi, an easy tool for alpha-lattice design analysis is Agricolae in R. Plus, this package is useful for the generation of design and fieldbook.

Use the PBIB.test function to analyze.

PBIB.test(block,trt,replication,y,k, method=c("REML","ML","VC"),

test = c("lsd","tukey"), alpha=0.05, console=FALSE, group=TRUE)

My R package metan for multi-environment trial analysis (https://tiagoolivoto.github.io/metan/index.html) can be used to analyze experiments in alpha-lattice design. gamem() (for single environments) and gamem_met() (for multi-environment) are the functions that might help you.
