In genetic analysis, the allelic odds ratio is calculated from a 2X2 table where the counts of the cells are derived from genotype counts. Just wondering in that case how to adjust for the effects of covariates such as age, sex etc.?
If you have only one confounder, you can use mantel-haenszel-procedure, where you set up a cross-table for each confounder level, calculate the OR and combine all the ORs afterwards. See https://wiki.ecdc.europa.eu/fem/w/fem/the-mantel-haenszel-method.aspx for details.
