I have come across publications which hypothesize the presence of different populations of dyneins in the flagellum, which are responsible for regulating the beat/waveform. For eg. Wada et al 2015. 72. 182-192.

Using biophysical studies they have shown that there is an induced asymmetry in the flagellum and thus hypothesized dynein heterogeneity. However, this still remains speculative. What would be the most logically possible method/tool to address such speculations with more conclusive data showing the existence of dynein heterogeneity?
