I want to calculate leaf succulence, then the leaf area should be measured.
However, for some plants( eg. succulent plants), their leaves are rod-shaped. And the usual method may not be suitable. Then what is the best way to measure the leaf areas of such leaves? Thanks a lot.
If the leaves are rod-shaped (meaning, they are "tubes"?), then calculating the measures of the surface would follow the rules of calculating a tube (with a slight tolerance due to the round end).
formula would be:
(determing the circumference): U=π*diameter
(determing the coat surface): A(coat)=U*length
(approx. determing the "round end"): A(end)=π*(diameter/2)^2
Result should be: A(coat)+A(end)
It is measured leaf area according to special mathematical equation
You can wet it in ink and subsequently print with the leaf a sheet of graph paper, where the area is evident.
