The AI threat to National Security is a quadlemma. Firstly, AI technologies driven by commercial entities outside national security frameworks pose such a threat. Secondly, AI is also about rapid technological advancements outpacing government policies and reforms. Thirdly cyber operations, misinformation, and new anti-access/area denial kill webs are some of the threats to national security and fourthly the potential destabilisation of global security similar to the introduction of nuclear weapons is imminent because of AI advancements.@sanjaya Adhikari
While AI has immense positive benefits to the management of factors that affect national security, it also posses great threats since its applicability goes both ways i.e. criminals are able to use and leverage advance AI systems to out do interventions put in place by Governments.
This has played out mostly within the Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing space. Governments should therefore establish dynamic mitigation measures focused towards emerging technologies that may fall in the hands of criminal groups.
