We always store our cytospin slides sealed in tubular foil in -80. Just make sure the cytospins are dried properly before putting them in the foil. We have slides stored at -80 from over 10 years ago and they are still in good condition and usable for experiments. Before use, thaw them at room temperature before taking the slides out of the foil.

This is certainly useful. We are thinking of drying the cytospin slides using a desicator to prevent crystal formation. Do you also have cells on the slides and are these fixed? What kind of tests do after freezing?

We have used cytospins with mononuclear cells from blood and bone marrow samples, and also with cells from several cell lines. All unfixed. We just air-dried the slides, but using a desiccator should be fine as well I think.
We used the slides for immunocytochemistry.
