Hello, I've recently encountered an issue with a pre-mixed PCR buffer containing cy5 as a reference dye.

It seems that cy5 signal is completely absent, while other dyes (FAM etc.) are working fine. We checked everything (including our PCR machines and so on) and it most likely seems that somehow cy5 gets damaged during transportation.

How stable cy5 dye actually is and what may cause it's loss of fluorescence without affecting FAM? May it be some x-ray machine in the airport that damages the dye, given that all buffers are shipped in opaque containers and light damage is not possible?
