i want to study share of renewable energy in agricultural practices especially in developing countries. pls suggest any research paper or work related to this topic.
Use of energy is an important input for agricultural production. Solar energy can be used in agriculture in several ways and save huge amount of input cost. This important sector of economy uses energy directly as a fuel to run the tools, machinery and other appliances, to heat or cool the buildings, lighting the farms etc. and indirectly to produce chemicals and fertilisers etc. Solar can be used for all these functions of agriculture. It can increase self-reliance, reduce pollution and cut down the fuel and electricity bills ultimately causing reduction in production costs. Solar heat collectors can be used to dry crops and warm homes, livestock buildings, and greenhouses. Thus, solar energy can be highly useful for agricultural practices.
Solar energy can be used for all these functions you mentioned and for several other purposes in agricultural activity. It also advantageous over other means of energy production and supply due to its decentralized production.
The solar energy is useful in agricultural practices as an energy source for a lot of machines and equipments. It can use direct or indirect for pest and disease management, weed control, irrigation, fertilization, drying of products.
I proposed a project names surface water irrigation using photovoltaic driven pumps. It is suitable to use in the delta. and valley of the river Nile. This system of irrigation can be used instead of the diesel pumps irrigation systems now.
Now with advancements in the PV generators where the cost went appreciably down, one can feed complete villages with electricity.
Agriculture waste is already used to supply heat for house hold in villages.
I have done a project on this topic using solar energy and here is the paper. The motivations of doing agriculture with solar energy are:
1. Data deluge is increasing the usage of electricity to process and store these data.
2. New Industries and companies are expanding to meet the demand of growing population.and continuously increasing the demand of electricity.
3. The size of transistors is decreasing, but the amount of transistor in a single cheap is increasing to meet the new generation needs. Thus, the digital world is also hinging to use more electricity.
4. Diesel-based irrigation is cause of contamination of environment and reserve of Diesel or Petrol is also limited and an alternative solution is only renewable source of energy.
5. Because of load-shedding, many motors are burnt out and poor farmers suffer and don't get water for irrigation in due time. Thus a sustainable source of electricity is necessary for water pumping.
6. The growing population is using smartphones, tablets, and laptops everyday and run on electricity.

Solar energy can be used in agriculture in a number of ways, saving money, increasing self-reliance, and reducing pollution.Solar heat collectors can be used to dry crops and warm homes, livestock buildings, and greenhouses. Solar water heaters can provide hot water for dairy operations, pen cleaning, and homes.
I would suggest you to also consider that in many cases pump motors are driven by inverters for a smoother operation and better dynamics. Suitable coordination among solar sources and loads can help to attain a greater realibility.
I kindly invite you to take into consideration the recommendations given by Professor Abdelhalim abdelnaby Zekry, since I share his point of view, additional, I share a solar water pump methodology developed for assuring the resource for two populations (Systematic Analysis and Design of Water Networks With Solar Photovoltaic Energy).
Using the solar energy can be active in all agricultural areas. That will definitely help meet the increasing need for agricultural products with the increasing population. However, it is known that the agricultural land has a fixed area and, sometimes, agricultural products cannot be cultivated. That greenhouse is a method that is used nowadays and using the solar energy can help build solar greenhouses in areas far away from the city.
I agree with you, Yasser, but the cost associated with the solar energy setup is really costlier and some cases too much for a farmer. Besides, the energy conversion efficiency of solar cell is about to 30% which is also a factor to run a high HP motor. In case of cloudy weather, farmers need an alternative arrangement such as battery bank that is also costlier. How can we ensure a cost effective and sustainable arrangement for the agriculture field.

yes i agree with Yasser falah Hassan, the photovoltaic greenhouses are mixed systems and new sustainable technology, which marrying energy production and agricultural activity. In addition, are an important opportunity to reduce costs for energy intensive agricultural enterprises, and are an exceptional solution for developing ecological sustainability within the agricultural sphere. we have already tried it in the semi-arid regions and we have found good results with shade rates less than 40%.

Solar energy can be used in mechanized agriculture. It is extensively used in pumps in lieu of diesel for irrigation, power tiller for ploughing, combined harvester etc. Besides, solar energy is very much usable in greenhouse agriculture.
