Expressing the performance of perennial crops in terms of fruit yield is more   of a traditional  than conventional style of crop  evaluation . Mean orchard yield is most common expression of crop performance . But , this expression doesn't reveal the actual performance of orchard on tree-to-tree basis. For example , number of trees having fruit yield more than the mean orchard yield , often referred as orchard efficiency is more pragmatic in addressing the fruit yield on tree-to-tree basis. I invite the views of our esteemed colleagues on this important issue.
