I have to analyze thermal stability of a coating for 4 different temperature for 4 different time interval. It is performed on different sample for calculation of various coating properties such as density, surface energy, thickness etc. So different sample for each testing.
Is there any systematic way to reduce the number of experiments?
or to decide the no of samples required for the test? Can you suggest about the approach of such problem. Thank you

There is a free software called GPower to calculate the the sample size. It is capable of calculating the sample size for different tests such as ANOVA, MANOVA etc.
You can definitely alter the sample size based on type I and II error.
