I'm starting to manage a reference strain collection which I use for quality control of culture media. Literature is widely consistent in suggesting periodical confirmation of the strains' properties by examining colony morphology, growth in selective media and biochemical testing.

However, I still have the question: what would be an adequate frequency for biochemical testing? Every time a stock culture is thawed to obtain working cultures?
