The activity is quite longer in our hands. Even after 6 days the induction is evident. We performed a time course analysis and we found this:

"We measured the degree of induction elicited by β-estradiol during seedling growth on the inducer-containing plates through GUS transcript level determination (Figure S9). Induction was maximal at 2 dag, had dropped to less than 50% at 6 dag, and was residual by 9 dag, in agreement with the described gradual β-estradiol inactivation under light (Zuo et al., 2000)."

Hi Alberto, thanks for your information. What is meant by 2 dag, 6 dag and so on? Induction is plant age independent, so I assume you meant to say 2 dai ( 2 days post induction) and 6 dai and so on. Please correct me if I am wrong. 2 dag generally means 2 days after germination, but induction can be done at any stage and you have also shown to have done on plants on MS media as well as on soil, isn't it?

It means days after germination. In fact, the seeds were germinated on MS plates containing the inducer (estradiol). As Arabidopsis takes 24 hour to germinate, 6 dag corresponds to 7 days after sowing. But we say dag because in developmental studies like this, the definition of time is very important. Of course, you can apply the inducer when you want, and where you want with a paintbrush for example. Hope it helps!!
