I am currently planning out a peat replacement experiment, where I need to calculate the amount of excess Nitrogen Phosphates and potassium that I need to add in order to ensure the growth of the crops. I am adding 1.2 Litres of Substrate into each pot.
How much exactly do I need to ensure the tomato crops have sufficient requirements to grow without nutrtion being a limiting factor?
Or if you could direct me to somewhere where their is research done in calculating this that would also be great, I cannot seem to find any exact research regarding this.
To produce 1 KG tomatoes, you might need N (3g), P (0.5g) and K (4g) per square meter. Multiply these values to produce more. However, don’t forget the saturation curve and the Liebig's law of the minimum. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebig%27s_law_of_the_minimum.
This means, other nutrients might be limiting.
Its next to impossible to define and measure precisely , most of the suggestions would be simply an approximation only....unless nutrient supplying capacity of yoru susbtrate and target yield are clearly defined .

Fertilizer rates should be determined based on in-situ nutrient content keeping climatic condition, organic matter content and soil texture constant.
Fertilizer rate: Crop nutrient demand-soil nutrient content.
