A hypothesis should typically be between 30 to 50 words in one paragraph. It should clearly state the research question, the variables involved, and the expected relationship or outcome. The focus should be on conciseness and clarity, presenting a testable prediction without unnecessary detail.
The simplest hypothesis is just five words: X is related to Y. Obviously you need to go beyond that to explain the nature of the relationship and why it exists, but the hypothesis itself can be quite simple.
Hypothesis cannot exist without a theoretical framework. The format 'X =/= Y' is only correspondence 'theory', usually without any theory, usually involving a paradigm of unstated assumptions. What to measure, and what the optional results would mean (Popper).
