Is there any reference text for PLAXIS elements? I searched whole reference and scientific manual, but didn't find exact answer.
I think it considers 2 d.o.fs for each node, what about in plane rotation?
I suggest you to read PLAXIS scientific manual, there given all these details. In 2-d plane stress conditions, - Two Normal stresses and one shear stress (sigmaX, sigmaY and dovexy), Also, two normal strain and one shear strain. Normal stress in z-direction is zero, shear stresses doveXZ and dove YZ = 0.0
In Plane strain condition - Normal strain in z-direction is zero, shear stresses doveXZ and doveYZ=0. I also suggest you to read the finite element book titled 'Concepts and applications in finite element analysis' by RD Cook. published by John Wiley New york.
in 2-d analysis, there will be a 2-degree of freedom. displacement in x and y - directions.
well, so the question exactly is why Plaxis 2D ignores in-plane rotation d.o.f?
i think rotation d.o.f is not common and it is only for some specific cases. Also, i hope PLAXIS2d dynamic software may be having rotation. I recommend you to read PLAXIS2d manual for better clarity on this aspects.
