The proteinase K may be up to 4 years old. Everything online indicates that Proteinase K can be good for up to 2 years if at 4C or below, but there is really no information on how long it could really be good for. Has anyone used proteinase K that was several years old and it worked fine?
try to use this for protein digestion against proteins like collagen or BSA , make a solution of protein in a suitable buffer and then take the reading at 280 in quartz cuvet and then treat the solution with your enzyme leave it for 24 hours incubation in a shaking incubator at optimum temperature and take reading again at 280. if difference obtain that means your enzyme is working.
I've wored with one-year old proteinase K that had been at 4C all thetime and it did worked... but this was as retrival step in IHC, I do not know if it would still be potent enough for e.g. tissue lysis.

I have now used proteinase K that was at room temp for at least a year and then at 4C for at least a year and it worked fine. I now put proteinase K immediately in the fridge and am guessing has a lifespan of at least three years if kept at 4C.
