I just answered this in another section. The diagnosis is based on fundus picture, SD-OCT and autofluorescence imaging; FFA is rarely required, mainly to separate DME from MacTel 2 in diabetic retinopathy, and to detect SRNV (not CNV). The only blood exam I order is GTT, or RBS, as applicable. I also check blood pressure. 6-monthly follow-up is generally adequate, the patient is advised to check for distortion on an Amsler's grid, and report SOS earlier than the scheduled visit. if there is SRNV in one eye, the follow-up is shortened to 3 months.
