Thanks for reply! You're right. They are distinct phases, but I'm actually wondering how the hematite crystal size changes with reduction? Does it usually increase or decrease? Is there any approximate answer?

Hematite is HCP and magnetite is FCC. by reduction reaction, there is about 25% volume change. A slide used in both Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur(IITK) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology(BUET) claims the volume change to be increase of volume.
