26 April 2016 4 9K Report

Hello! I am investigating postnatal corpus callosum development and I am looking for any data, which show only subset of axons growing through (such as those from in utero electroporations or dye/AAV tracing). I actually found only two papers - Zhou et al. 2013 showed that 1) at P3, there are already axons on the contralateral side (Supp. Fig. 10) 2) at P8, axon from motor and sensory cortex are mixed on contralateral side and 3) some axons are probably pruned until P30, as contralateral motor and sensory axons are in correct positions. However, in a paper from Wang et al. 2007, at P3 axons were just reaching the midline. Moreover, in many papers (e.g. Srivatsa et al, 2014..) people study callosal development at embryonic states and consistently one can see callosal axons on the contralateral side already at E17-E18. Does anyone know, what is happening there? Thank you.
