For safety you can check the condition in your working area by sedimentation method to check the total count of microorganisms as well as moulds in working rooms. This picture will allow you to understand the risk like measure the risk of possible contamination of samples.
If the wall of your laboratory room has moulds, I advise you to please do decontamination of the laboratory with formalin solution and potassium permanganate crystal.This is a very effective method, which we were doing in our Medical Mycology laboratory every week. We were doing fumigation in the evening of every Saturday so that we start our work on Monday.
