On the one hand it's strongly believed that one should "publish or one will perish" , however on the other hand the rising numbers of publications every year have led to decrease quality of certain published texts.

Publish or Perish. True in one sense but it is better to Perish instead of Publishing trash.

It is essential that every clinician should publish his experience in a journal . This is necessary because a database is necessary about various diseases from various parts of the country . For eg, data on Malaria , Dengue or Tb from various regions ( urban or rural ) is essential to eradicate these diseases & not a single case should be missed . Researchers in specific fields would find such data valuable to plan future course of action . This could be an article or a letter to the editor .
The concept of ' Publish or perish ' is for clinicians in teaching Institutes who need publications for promotions . Publications are needed for other important purposes of improving scientific contributions for the health of its citizens .
