In the literature reviewed, there are notable discrepancies regarding the effectiveness of ultrasonic treatment. Some studies report successful inhibition of specific cyanobacterial species when using targeted frequencies, while others show little to no effect—especially in cases dominated by green algae (Chlorophyta). These mixed results suggest that effectiveness may be highly species- and context-dependent.
