Dear Martin. These publications do not give a clear answer to the question.I understand that there are practically no publications on the change in the pulse pressure in the dynamics of physical exertion.
In healty people during alternate contraction, for instance running or cycling, in other words endurance exercise, systolic could go up to 180/200 mmhg, while diatolic doesn't change very much, it can increase a little bit or sometime goes down.
During isometric contraction or resistance training, both Sistolic and diastolic can increase very much. Over 200/250 systolic and over 130/140 or more diastolic.

One complication to this discussion is that heart rate, and possibly other aspects of cardio adjustment to exercise, is initially and throughout exercise is A FEEDFORWARD system, although once exercise commences, there is obviously feedback too via various sensory transducers. The feedforward component, once exercise starts, is that some proportion of neural outflow from the CNS, that recruits muscle fibres on the fly, is forwarded via the Vagus to the heart. This makes it more complex to analyse as a system response, compared to those systems that are entirely (or almost so) feedback controlled.
Dear Donald! I agree with you. However, just important is the adjustment of the circulatory system, which determines the adaptation of the body to physical activity. It is different, but it can play a significant role in predicting the possibilities of the organism.
