What method does the SPSS point and click option run for propensity scores? That is does it do matching with replacement or matching without replacement, and does it do greedy or optimal matching? I can't find a source for this detail any where.

I've found this paper "Propensity score matching in SPSS"(https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1201/1201.6385.pdf) which has a section called "matching algorithm" that seems to have a pretty detailed explanation.
The TL;DR seems to be that the standard is nearest neighbor matching which is greedy matching, but that you can also specify the type of matching yourself. I'm not an expert on the topic but I hope that the paper can answer your questions.
