How does the method of gas evaporation work when synthesizing Iron nano particles?

I read a paper by Gong et al. (1991, DOI:10.1063/1.348144) where nano particles are prepared by gas evaporation in Ar/N atmosphere in a tungsten basket. Does anyone know a book, PDF, webpage where this method is explained in detail?
