I synthesized rGO/Co3O4 nanocompsites employing a temperate coprecipitation method. The maximum ratio of rGO is 10%.The BET analysis show an increase in the surface area of composite as rGO ratio increase...I need an explanation.
In all likelihood, in the range of rGO used, the metal oxide forms larger clusters at lower rGO concentrations resulting in lowered surface area of the metal oxides. As your rGO contnet increases, the cluster sizes become smaller resulting in an increase in surface area.
Another possibility is that, the cluster sizes do not change but simply the fact that rGO has a higher specific surface area than Co3O4 particles precipitated and as a result as you increase the rGO content, the specific surface area increases. You need to differentiate as to awhich of the two are occurring.
