How does plant sap Nitrates enhance plants susceptibility to pests and diseases?

Good evening, I've heard from many personal communication that high NO3 sap levels increase plant susceptibility against certrain pests and diseases.

I was wondering what are the main influenced pests & diseases?

What is the mechanism behind these relationships?

Does this applies for all plant species?

Please if you have any study talking about this subject I would appreciate if you share it with me.
