Can anybody help me in calculating RF MEMS Switching Speeds in Comsol Multiphysics/ANSYS? Can anybody share the sample/example model?
I am using Ansys HFSS. Can we do this by exporting the Spice model in Ansys Maxwell? If yes, how?
If not using above example, then in MATLAB? How?
I just need any one method to calculate the RF MEMS Switching Speeds.

You should be able to do this easily with COMSOL Multiphysics. The first thing you would have to do is go over the "Model Library", this is if you do not have any idea how to do the set up. In there you will be able to find plenty of examples and if one of them is close to what you need, then you can simply try to replicate it following the steps but modifying to suit your needs. There is no need to share the examples here. Open COMSOL, go to the Menu bar and click on "Windows", from the drop-down menu, select "Model Libraries" this will open a window where you can search with keywokds (IE. RF MEMS). Then you will be able to open a PDF and/or a solved model.

I have gone through the examples and I have already explored that example you have specified. However, is there any way to provide custom tailored made signal in COMSOL. I think that the Vstep value in parameters can be remodified. COMSOL even for 25% model need huge amount of time. I was computing damping analysis and for membrane with holes it took 11 hrs to complete. Can you share any model of ANSYS?

I do not have any models in ANSYS, sorry. You should be able to simplify your model in COMSOL to get faster solution times. Try to start with a 2D model and then move forward to the 3D one. Simplify as much as you can. Once you get a solution that is close to what you are expecting then you can move to a more complex model. Start with a coarse mesh and make sure that you are using the correct unit for your model ([µm]] and not [m]). You should be able to input the signal you specify, but as I said start with something really simple, then move forward.

You should be able to do the simulation in ANSYS. Doing a transient analysis is simple in ANSYS. The important thing that you need to consider is the damping ratios. The transient analysis (switching time) is dependent on structural model and damping factors. If you don't need to extract the exact value of the switching time and only need an estimation, it is much better to do a Modal analysis in ANSYS and in the output data select the Mode in which is in actual direction of motion of the switch. Then reverse the frequency of the Modal is time constant. The optimum switching time of the switch from speed and reliability points of view comes by multiplying the time constant (that you have obtained by modal analysis) by 10. For example, if in Modal analysis you got 10KHz, the time constant will be 0.1mS and the optimum switching time will be around 1mS. If the switching time is higher than this number, then the reliability decreases because you are being close to the mechanical natural frequency of the switch.
