These cyclodextrins have high capacity of forming firm host-guest inclusion complexes (1:1 complexes). For instance, if the drug has hydroxyl group or any functional group that has ability of forming van der Waals bonding (i.e hydrogen bonding), therefore, the drug can interacts with cyclodextrin (i.e beta-cyclodextrin) and there will be a formation of intermolecular hydrogen bonding between β-CD cavity and drug molecule/compound through host-guest inclusion interactions. The secondary –OH group presents on wider face of the β-CD cavity is the key binding site that responsible for uptake of drug through van der Waal bonding (i.e hydrogen bonding)
