How do introduce a Pi pulse after the first excitation pulse with photon echo in molecular gas?

Recently, I focus on the photon echo experiments in molecular gas. And surprisely there are no many literatures about this kind of experiments. So if someone has experience on this field, please, please help me out!

In particular, how to introduce a Pi pulse after the first excitation pulse ? What parameters are critical ?
