I purchased graphene from a company(United Nanotech).
I am trying to make a transparent conducting electrode using graphene. For that I tried to make an aqueous dispersion of graphene but powder settles down after a couple of hours. Please suggest a dispersing agent for graphene and NOT graphite.
Aqueous dispersion of graphene is of interest as it affords environmentally safe handling of graphene for coating ,composites, electronic, and other material applications. It well known that graphene does not readily dissolve in water. There are a simple methods for preparation and dispersion of such graphene with low cost and non toxic .Please have a look at the below links and attached files.

I suggest you first wash graphene several times with deionized water and absolute ethanol, dried in air at 80°C and finally calcined at 350 0C ( 5 0C min-1) for 2 h. If there are some impurities it will be evaporated.
Thanks for your response Sharafat. Could you please explain what effect the impurities have on the stability of the solution? I mean if it was because of the impurities, then the entire powder shouldn't settle down, at least some of it should be dispensed in water. If there is something wrong with my logic, please correct me.
My knowledge about the matter suggests that the solution would stabilize if I add a dispersing agent, although I don't know which dispersing agent I should add.
DMF is a good solvent for dispersing because it has an interactive effect with GO or Graphene. I may not know if someone has used it as a washing agent but there are several paper in which authors have demonstrating its nature to form stable dispersion and also used for exfoliating via sanitation....
