Just generate the .inp ready to launch of your model from abaqus cae instead of launching the job

then go to the work folder where it was created, right click on the folder while maintaining shift, and click "open a command line here"

Then the cmd from windows should appear, just write this:

abaqus job=XX cpus=YY int ask_delete=OFF

and enter

replace XX by the name of your inp (without the ".inp" extension)

replace YY by the numbers of CPUs you want to use for this calculation

This should do the work, no need to launch CAE for your job now, and no problem of idle time.

It should be possible to run a job from the command line (I assume you are working under windows, I think there is an option for this).

Can you explain more on how to do the command line on windows? I am new at Abaqus so i don't really know.

I have the same problem with "session has been idle longer than 3600 seconds, disconnecting from Abaqus License Manager". 

And I use the method described by Mr. Pierre.

However, after I enter "abaqus job=XX cpus=YY int ask_delete=OFF", system feedback with 'abaqus' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

So could you tell me what I should do next?

I'm guessing that the folder that you tried to execute the cmd from windows does not contain any .inp files. Try to locate the folder which saves the .inp files, then launch the windows cmd.

I had the same error message when running Abaqus from the command line. Ensure that your environment variables are correct.

I think when linking Abaqus subroutines, I accidently deleted some of the important environment variables in path. (computer>right click>advanced system setting>environment variables>system variables>path)

This was corrected when I added ;C:\SIMULIA\Abaqus\Commands to path

" open a command line here " is not available in windows 10. What to do? Windows PowerShell is there. Shall i use that?

Mathusuthanan Mari PowerShell is the same as "windows command line" in new version of windows

Shuchen Ge when typing the command, ensure to use capital letters were necessary. For example ensure to type OFF and not off.
