I need to dissolve cellulose in NMMO, lit. survey suggests that the simplest method to do is to dissolve it in NMMO, unfortunately detailed steps have not been mentioned anywhere, I have a few questions:
1)50% NMMO is used mostly, can the weight % of NMMO be varied according to cellulose content? For example I only need to dissolve 0.05g cellulose in around 30ml solvent, since the cellulose amount is quite low can I use a low percentage of NMMO or does dissolution not occur if NMMO is less than 50%?
2) For dissolution, what are the steps? Lit. just mentions adding cellulose to the NMMO solution and stirring it for 2h at 100C. Is this it?

schwiezer's reagent (cuprammonium solution) and cupriethylenediamine hydroxide could be used for dissolving cellulose in room temperature as well, and they are easy to prepare in your lab. Also you can find more information on how to dissolve in litreture.
You should heat it to 115 C with stirring (you will not see any dissolution until about 110 C. Don't let it become too warm, it might explode (!) and severy cellulose depolymerisation and decomposition may occur at temperatures above 130 C.
I think, NMNO is solid at room temperature. For this you should heat the NMNO at above its melting temperature, then after you add cellulose powder in it. Or you can dissolve cellulose Ionic liquids also. ILs can dissolve cellulose at room temperature.
