Results that are not significantly different are as informative as those with differences. In this case you found that a certain group of participants reported receiving information from the same sources. I would like to know more about your data to suggest additional statistics. One key table should be the general characteristics of your study population. What are their sociodemographic attributes? Nationality, region, race/ethnicity, religion (if applicable), education level, income level, and other descriptors that may be of interest. Since the Likert scale has only 5 points, non-parametric tests should be used when comparing responses. Another way to consider the Likert scale is to collapse it to likely to use or not-likely to use. Then a cross-tabulation can be done for each response comparing the participants by sociodemographics. Income level versus likely to use information source A, B, C...etc.

I suggest you report the sociodemographics of your participants (nationality, region, income, education, access to media, political affiliations, and/or whatever characteristics help to define your study population. Then you may want to see how different factors of your population responded to source of information. I am not sure how your Likert-scale is set. Are you asking how often they use certain sources? If so, you may want to consider collapsing the scale to often, sometimes, few/never and running a cross tabulation with income, education and other sociodemographics with each of the sources to determine frequency of use by population characteristics. Likert scale with 5 values should not be considered a continuous variable. Instead, non-parametric tests should be used. Please furnish more information about your variables so I can make suggestions for analysis. What is your main objective?

Thank your for your reply. My study is on halal information of food products.

In terms of the sample population, I used convenience sampling with respondents comprising of 243 students from my university.

In terms of demographic profile, my respondents were targeted to Muslim consumers. They comprised largely from a single ethnic group, with majority of them are undergraduate students.

I believe this has contributed to the homogeneity or lack of variation in my descriptive results.

I listed 17 information sources that respondents USE to engage in search involving halal information of food products. The Likert-scales are as the following:

1- Not at all

2-Little

3- Somewhat

4- Much

5- A great deal

From the data, I can infer as to why some sources are used much more than the other. However, my concern is that it is not legitimate since there is no significance between the use of different sources used.

Putting aside other statistical tests, and speaking merely in terms of descriptive tests (mean and sd), is it normal to report my data like this? How do I justify myself, for example, when I present my data?

I've referred to another paper whose nature of work is similar to mine. And they obtain a pretty similar trend; not much variations in their finding with values range from 3-5. And the simplicity of the way they report their finding freak me out a little bit, should it look that easy.
