How do I change the font of references section of a proposal without words moving out of alignment?

How do I change the font of references section of a proposal without words moving out of alignment? The references section is in Times New Roman 14 point font in APA format. When I select and choose Arial 12 point font, which the grant organization wants, the tabs move out of place, words moving out of alignment.
