How do ethylene glycol and glycerol afftect the synthesis of {001} facets TiO2 film?

I am synthesizing {001} facets exposed TiO2 film on Ti-substrate. When i add iso-propanol + water along with HF to hydrothermal solution then the % of exposed {001} are higher than when i replace iso-propanol by same amount of ethylene glycol or glycerol under same experimental conditions.

I think may be because of high viscosity of ethylene glycol and glycerol the formation of {001} facets be retarded. Please suggest me if you have any suggestions.
