Probably you wish to talk about features (not futures)! It is basically a gene or a combination of genes (better to be called the genetic make up of an individual) which decides the features. Sometimes, the genes do not work alone. they are influenced by the environment as well, especially in case of quantitative traits (controlled by many genes). In this case the genetic make up, the environment and the genotype x environment interaction together play a defined role in deciding the features of an individual.

If we consider a single locus with two alleles, we have only three genotypes. However, a single gene with three alleles can produce six genotypes, and with 4 alleles we will have 10 genotypes, and so on. Thus, mutation induced phenotypic diversity provides raw materials for natural selection to operate, ultimately shifting the population towards more adaptedness. Thanks to all of you who gave me your own answer. Just to get an appropriate answer for my question (How different features observed in an individual for a particular trait (like different hair color in an individual animal)? I have looked at different sources and reached some explanation. Here is my explanation for the question, it may be due to the codominance gene action (i.e. when both the genes of the parents express themselves equally). For instance, Inheritance of coat color in Cattle, the gene CR stands for red coat color, Cr stands for white color. When red cattle crossed with white cattle, the F1 hybrids have roan coloured skin (Not intermediate). Is there anyone, who has an idea on this explanation? is this explanation supported or not? Since it is very important for my clear understanding, I look forward to hearing your response from your experience.
