I have been trying to isolate a fungi harvested in a forest these days, and I was quite sure that I managed it. however, I received a commercial strain of this same species, which looked much "denser" than the one I isolated. Can they really be the same species? I was wondering if it is related to the point that the one I isolated was coming from the sporocarp...

Yes it could be and incredible variability between insolates, depending of the age, part of the fungi where you insolate, culture media and age of the mycelia. Change the culture media one time let it grow and them return to the original culture media and them you can see if they have same characteristics.

Change the culture media, let it grow, characteize the strains morphologically, physicichemically as well as biochemically compare them and then conclude to what u expect.
This is happening with me also culture having 3 types of colonies depends on age of culture.
