Following on researchgate sometimes don't work because the articles are not added up ASAP here. But yes, I agree with Tamer that following the alert on google scholar works better.
1) Login to your google account, or create one
2) Go to http://scholar.google.com/
3) Select 'Alerts' near the top of the page
4) Select 'Create Alert' then, using quotations, type name of person you wish to receive notifications on -> for example "Kevin Rocco"
5) Finish by selecting 'Create Alert'
Thats it! You will receive an email to your gmail account any time new research is published by that author
When you follow somebody on researchgateyou can are able to see their new publication (you will get an e-mail).
It depends, for example, in some Universities and organizations (such as in USDA), the publication of their employee usually listed with their profiles. So, if you know where your friends are working, you can just go to the institute's website and search for it. Otherwise, you can do the suggestions as other members mentioned above.
the best way to go for activation of Alarm which you can do through following that scientist, as an example in research-gate it will acknowledge any updated made that scientist automatically..you can choose google scholar and so on...
Certainly, there are diverse avenues to explore this issue. Probably the most rapid is to ask this question directly to the individual you are interested in, if possible. However, that approach is not always reliable so I suggest you to double check the usual bibliographic databases available in the net as other members have already mentioned.
