I want to control the release rate of VEGF-C from PEGDA. in the paper by Hwang et al (2011), Therapeutic lymphangiogensis using stem cells and VEGF-C hydrogel;

They used acidic gelatin with isoelectric point of 5 to interact ionically with basic VEGF-C (IEP of 8.3). the acidic gelatin was crosslnked with glutaraldehyde.

depending on the concentration of glutaraldehyde the cumulative release rate of VEGF-C was more controlled (no burst release) over 28 days (incubated at 37*C).

Can this method be modified for PEGDA?
