Hi!

I am currently working on a problem using repeated measure design.

Each participant was assigned to two CONDITIONs (A and B). And their GOAL (continuous) were measured twice in condition A and B. And their BEHAVIOR (continuous) were also measured twice in condition A and B. So for each subject, they will have A_GOAL, B_GOAL, A_BEHAVIOR, B_BEHAVIOR.

GOAL and BEHAVIOR are both hypothesized (and found) to vary across the two CONDITIONs. I am actually planning to conduct analysis to see if the relationship between CONDITION and BEHAVIOR will be moderated by GOAL.

The most difficult part is that it's a repeated measure design. Both GOALs and BEHAVIORs are measured twice. Moreover, GOAL and BEHAVIOR vary based on CONDITION. I am wondering whether there's any analysis method to solve my problem.

I've actually read the work by Judd, Kenny, & McClelland (2001) that mentioned within-subject moderation. It seems that when GOALs vary based on CONDITION, GOALs may mediate the effect from CONDITION to BEHAVIOR. Does it mean that I need to test both within-subject mediation and moderation? Has anyone read this and can tell me if using this method is appropriate for my case?

Many thanks!
