I think we can't avoid this kind of complication. Antibiotics and HOT seem to be the best way with regular follow up. It is a palliative therapy. We have a similar problems with patients affected by ONJ in association with bisphosphonates drug.
treat the osteomyelitis according to the existing protocols. Sequestrectomy and IV-antibiotics will give good results. in suppurative osteomyelitits no benefits are to be expected from HBO. stabilize a possible pathologic fracture with non-invasive means whenever possible.
It is thought that osteomyelitis is decreasing in prevalence due to broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment; however, it still remains a challenging clinical entity in developing countries. I think stabilization with non-invasive means is a good way.
