The democracy in Tunisia is in a deteriorating 'state' since a slight improvement after the Arab Spring events in 2011. To underline this I have an example. Last year when Italy's government (led by PM Giorgia Meloni) tried to find a solution against the mass exodus (migrants) from North Africa, Italy brokered an agreement with its Tunisian counterparts. Then an Italian judge labelled the country's situation as insecure (https://www.euronews.com/2023/10/06/italian-court-blocks-deportation-of-migrant-to-tunisia-saying-its-not-a-safe-country), so it aimed to stop deportations from Europe to Tunisia. However it was just a little bump on the way to execute these, it showed the opinion of some prominent figures about the state of democracy in Tunisia.
