We can safely expect problems and disappointments in anything we endeavor, if we did not expect the unexpected, we have failed from the start. The unexpected elements to anything is often a new discovery that challenges our approach, it is called a serendipitous discovery, and personally I expect the unexpected always as a challenge but never a problem because there are only events that cause one to stop or to move ahead with a renewed motivation. It is a matter of personal courage and confidence in the self where the overcomers succeed where a difficult "event" arises.

If there is any probability of it happening, no matter how unexpected and "unlikely" it may seem, YES! Well sooner or later it will happen: IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME (Did anyone even think that everyone in the world was threatened, changing their "modus vivendi "and thousands of people dying in 2019 before the COVID-19 PANDEMIC ??).

Expecting the unexpected, you emerge as a completely dominant mind.

The answer is simple. The nature teaches us that strong ecosystems are diverse. The medicine and epidemiology teach us that strong species are genetically diverse and physiologically robust.

The way to implement those approaches in technology is to have multiple designs that will mutually compete and which can adjust to changing external and internal conditions dynamically.

When we look at paleontology, we see that most of the time ecosystems adjust. Some species are disappearing and others are taking their place. Yet there are observed event of mass extinctions.

What happened there? The used design was unable to cope with too much of the change that occurs too quickly. The way to go in engineering is to develop self-organization adaptive systems that will get the capability of healing.

We are yet to discover those principles upon which such a system will be working. Our best teachers are biology and microbiology with their endless capabilities to self-regulate, self-replicate, and self-repair.

Computationally mimicking such systems is one of the core parts of my research. It is a really fascinating area to be in.

Indeed, I have read about that, so is it possible to find an equation for expecting the unexpected, usually when a specific plan for work or for a project is developed, one of the pillars of developing the plan is the expectation of the future of this plan, at the same time we are supposed to expect what is unexpected from the occurrence obstacles or problems that may negatively affect the results that we will obtain, so we must always put alternatives into account.

Uncertainty of outcomes holds out hope to expect the unexpected.

The positive learning or conceptual indoctrinating from the unrealistic failures made of imagine and illusion of knowledge and believing in the success of things beyond the impossible anythings that could be existed. In fact, it means "Expectation".

We can never truly expect the unexpected but we can just prepare for certain outcomes.

There are a lot of complex systems in this world. According to complex systems theory, one of the main features of such systems is emergent behavior. "Emergence occurs when an entity is observed to have properties its parts do not have on their own" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergence). In other words, you should expect an unexpected in such complex systems; otherwise, they would not be complex systems.

Here is just one example. The scientific community accepted that humankind is a complex system. Therefore, you should expect an unexpected from humankind. More discussion about humankind as a complex system is in my book "Subsurface History of Humanity: Direction of History."

People could never describe something completely. In other words, we could never have complete/full knowledge about something. Our knowledge is always partial.

If you have just partial knowledge of something, then over time, you could acquire an additional piece of knowledge. We could call this future piece of knowledge "unexpected" because we do not know it yet. That means we should always be ready for new/unexpected knowledge to pop up.

We always expect the unexpected if we are looking for knowledge. If we do not look for knowledge or care about it, we may not expect the unexpected.
