For a moored structure in waves, calculation of wave drift damping of the body is of vital importance for calculation of the slow drift motion. However, how to calculate the wave drift damping in a more concise way?
You can use the "Heuristic Aproach" of Aranha and Clark (see Aranha, J.A.P. A formula for the wave damping in the drift of a floating body, J. fluid Mechanics, 1994 (275), 147-155, Aranha, J.A.P. and Martins M. R. Slender Body Approximation for yaw velocity terms in the wave drift damping matrix. 12th Int. Workshop on Water Waves and Floating Bodies, 1997, Clark, P.J., Malenica, S. and Molin, B. An heuristic approach to wave drift damping, Applied Ocean Research, 1993 (15), 53 – 55)
